How to pack bike to ship

Packing your bike for shipping requires care and appropriate materials to minimize the risk of damage during transportation.

Required materials

  • Bicycle box: If you are able to get a special box for transporting bikes, this would be perfect. If not, use a large cardboard box that will accommodate the bike.
  • Protective foam or sponge: To protect delicate parts of the bicycle.
  • Bubble wraps: To protect against scratches.
  • Adhesive tapes: To secure the packaging.
  • Bike disassembly tools: If possible, disassemble certain parts of your bike to make packing easier.

Pack your bike step by step

  • Disassemble the bike parts (optional):
    • Remove the wheels, pedals, seat and handlebars. Mark or take photos so you know how to reassemble your bike.
  • Frame protector:
    • Wrap the bicycle frame with bubble wrap or special protective foil.
  • Protection of delicate parts:
    • Cover the front and rear wheel forks, derailleurs, brakes and other delicate parts of the bike with protective foam or a sponge.
  • Wheel Packing:
    • Place the wheels in separate bags to protect them from scratches.
  • Placing in carton:
    • Place the frame in the carton. You can also put the wheels on the sides of the frame, but make sure they are properly secured.
  • Additional protection:
    • If there is a lot of space left in the box, fill the space with bubble wrap or additional foam to prevent the bike from moving inside the box.
  • Securing the packaging:
    • Close and secure the package with adhesive tape. Make sure the packaging is solid and well protected.
  • Labeling:
    • Add a label with your delivery address and contact information.
  • Assembly instructions:
    • Include assembly instructions, especially if you have disassembled parts of the bike.
  • Shipment tracking:
    • If possible, track your shipment to stay aware of its progress.
